He hasn't been too successful just yet, so for now, he's just passing his resume along and serving people.

Bloodline: Halfblood
Heritage: Irish
Personal History: Michael Declan Kilbane perhaps would have stayed in the working class Belfast of his birth, were it not for a stroke of good luck and a bit of a surprise from his mother. His father, muggle Keverne Kilbane, was an avid and strong supporter of the IRA in Belfast through The Troubles, family deeply rooted in Belfast for hundreds of years, claiming to be descended from the Celts of Ireland. Speaking Gaelic, reading the myths, Keverne was very much proud of his heritage, to the point of strongly political. After being brutally beaten behind a bar, he was helped (with healing magic, unbeknownst to him) and aided by a young Irish woman (and Gryffindor Hogwarts graduate), Aingeal, and as the story goes - fell in love and married. Aingeal was already very interested in muggle culture and the world, as a Pureblooded witch herself, but had no idea what she was getting herself into in marrying the political activist Keverne. Life was difficult, sometimes having not enough money, sometimes under stress of the attacks and meetings her husband would attend and even sometimes be jailed for. One hope, however, that kept Aingeal going, was that her children would be able to leave Belfast and were headed for better things.
They had seven children in total, Michael being the oldest. This did mean, however, that he was more exposed to the dangers and truths of his father, or more influenced by them. Keverne, believing that independence was best, would encourage his son to attend meetings and become involved as he was. However, Mike's mother would always try to keep him away, try to protect him. (Odd that she did especially with the war against Voldemort in her lifetime, but perhaps conflict and civil war was something that nobody could escape.)
Mike grew up conflicted, wanting to be as involved and fight for what he believed was right, while feeling guilt from his mother. He kept himself busy in his muggle school, playing rugby since the age of seven, and being involved in the Catholic church as his father was. That is, until just after his tenth birthday, he recieved a letter from an odd school he had never heard of. One his mother went to. Which came as a shock to all of them, of course, especially his father (who was under the impression that witchcraft was evil, as according to the church). However, Keverne has learned to accept it, as it has saved his life and let to their meeting, though he is more confused on the topic.
Mike, however, was much more confused. A wizarding school was the LAST place he'd ever believe he'd go, and it took him a good while to find his niche and fit in. The Sorting Hat placed him in Gryffindor, due to his unwavering loyalty in causes (even when his hope seemd to have run dry) and his devotion to what he chose to follow. Even then, it wasn't easy. He believed himself at a disadvantage already, having to work very hard through his difficulty in reading and writing, especially when he wished to be in wizarding politics (as of course, he'd wish to work for the good of the non-Pureblood elite.) Mike excelled in Herbology and Divination in school, and graduated with average marks, which he was perfectly happy with.
However, he knew they would already put him behind more, as those who wished to get Ministry jobs had to excel in a multitude of subjects. After graduating, he got a job in The Leaky Cauldron, which he believes will allow him to make the right connections and prove his worth, in his goal for the Ministry of Magic.

Personality: Mike is a loyal, devoted, rather Hufflepuff-y sort of Gryffindor. He fights for what he believes in, much like a Gryffindor would. When he devotes himself to a cause or a task, he never wavers, though he does get discouraged and worries that he isn't making a difference. Mike has a rather testy temper as well, not exactly open to the ideas and persuasions of an opposing side. When he sets his mind to something, he never once lets anything get in the way. Not even his inner doubts and insecurities, or that nagging feeling that he isn't good enough. He's gotten rather good at keeping in what he feels, as he doesn't feel comfortable talking about his emotions. He instead bottles them up and tries to stifle them back. He's a fighter, striving for what he believes in, though when he doesn't make it, he worries that he's cursed or has bad luck or isn't worth it. He really does hate failure. Mike is shy and a bit socially awkward, though knowing he has to work through it if he wants to get anywhere. He loves personal contact and being with people, he just worries that he isn't worth it, or that nobody would want to.
Physical Description: Mike Kilbane is not the usual, conventional, tall, dark, and handsome type. At all. Or the light-haired, light-skinned, and handsome and tall type either. Mike is short and, as his father says, "Celtic to the core." But then again, who knows what Celtic even refers to after all the years, apart from a sense of belonging to a fabled culture. He stands just under 5 foot 10, two inches shorter if he slouches. Mike is more stocky and rugged-looking than refined, with a rugby-player's body. He has a crooked smile with equally crooked teeth, a small nose that's been broken a few times, ears that stick out a bit too much, and is altogether. . .different. Not to say different is ugly, however. His eyes are a green-ish blue, depending on how you look at them, which are actually a rather attractive quality of his, and his hair is always cut short, a light brown colour. After a game of rugby, he can be seen with bruises, which he wears like badges of courage.
Preferred Body Model: Lucas Black : http://lucasblack.fan-sites.org/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/Picture20024.jpg

If this is your first UK character: Please give us a sample RP, at least one paragraph in length. N/A ; second UK character.

Hobbies and talents - max of five: Likes to stay in tune with the news and what is going on in the world, even the muggle one - keen interest in politics; rugby - played it for years; very good at fixing mechanical objects (muggle cars, magical contraptions, you name it); fishing - his one true love.
Weaknesses: Flying - he'd prefer to play sports where he's on the ground, really; terrible at spelling - wonders if he has a slight hint of dyslexia, in fact; allergic to animals, including owls - why he loves fishing so much; not the best reader - it takes him a long time and he's easily frustrated by not reading as quickly as others; deeply superstitious and worries he's been cursed quite often - no wonder Divination was his best subject in school; hypochondriac at times - only about genetic disorders inherited from his father, though; very nationalistic and can be snippy with British; detests policemen (yes, that is a weakness. He's been in muggle jail a few times in Belfast.)
Areas of Magical Expertise: Divination, Herbology
Areas of Magical Weakness: Charms, Magical Creatures, anything involving studying or book-work (it takes him a very long time.)
Broom: The thought of a broom makes him cling to the ground even more. None.
Wand: 9 inches, Pine and Unicorn tail core.

Alignment: Anti-Voldemort.
